The Techology Show Notes Episode 092

Tony Casey and Steve Stanley are out of the studio today so Matthew and I are running things on our own(BTW, there will be no show next week).  We have two special guests coming on to discuss the Emurgency pre-conference(featuring Dr. Christian Smith) held in Jacksonville, FL a few weeks ago as part of the Gathering.  Jeremy Summers is the director of Adult Ministries for the Wesleyan church.  Tim Kirkpatrick is the Discipleship/Small Groups Pastor at Foster St. Wesleyan Church in Asheboro, NC.  We will spend the final 30 minutes today discussing ministry to emerging adults and discipleship practices that work. Interview with Mark Batterson

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Wesleyan Gathering. I was more than excited for this event because one of my heroes, Mark Batterson, was the speaker for the final night.  He is the pastor of National Community Church in Washington, D.C. and his book In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day was the inspiration for this site in 2009.  I got the opportunity to meet him, and share my story with him.  I told him,”I’m the Chase Your Lion guy.”  His response,”Dude, that’s awesome.  Let’s get a picture.”  Sometimes, you meet people you look up to only to be disappointed.  Not this time.  Mark was humble and gracious and he signed books and spent time with numerous people.  The highlight was getting the opportunity to interview him for the Techology Show.  His new book, Soulprint: Discovering Your Divine Destiny comes out January 18.

I’m on my way to Jacksonville, Florida for The Gathering.  This event is every 4 years for Wesleyan pastor’s and spouses.  We will be live streaming the Emurgency pre-conference Tuesday at 9 am.  Here’s the tweet:
